I’m so glad you stopped by. If you’re looking for the quick version of who I am, this usually sums it up:

The not-so-quick description? I’m Beth—a wife (married twice, but to the exact same husband!), a mom of three incredible adult children, and an Oma to seven sweet grandkids. I am also a decidedly imperfect follower of Jesus who loves quiet moments, simple truth, and diving deep into God’s Word.
For years, two of my greatest passions were deeply studying my Bible and journaling about everything I was learning. As time went on, those passions merged with a deeper desire: a longing to leave behind a spiritual legacy—markers that point others to Christ long after God calls me home.
In 2026, those passions truly collided when I fell head-over-heels in love with searching for Jesus in the Old Testament through foreshadowing, typology, and Christophanies.
About “Finding Jesus in the Shadows”
To be completely honest, when I first heard the word “Typology” in Sunday School, I was really put off. I hated that they were adding a clunky, academic definition to a simple word like “type.” And when they called Jesus the “Antitype” (the fulfillment of the Old Testament shadow)? I was almost offended—it sounded altogether too close to “Antichrist!”
But I am stubborn, and I was determined to figure it out.
Late in 2025, I read Jesus on Every Page by David Murray and felt inspired to take it up almost as a challenge. I understood seeing Jesus in direct prophecies, but what about the messy, complicated, and sometimes downright appalling stories in Scripture?
I ended up making a deal with God. I told Him that if He could show me how to find Jesus in every single story in the book of Judges, I would make typology the centerpiece of my Bible journaling this year.
So, I went looking. And sure enough—there He was!
What continues to surprise me most about this journey is how much breathtaking depth is packed into even the shortest stories. On the surface, the Old Testament narrative moves fast with vivid action: a baby in a basket, a burning bush, plagues, and parting seas. It would be so easy to skim right past it if you weren’t looking for the story behind the story.
It’s the absolute beauty of Scripture—it’s like an ocean where a toddler can paddle safely, but a deep-sea diver can explore forever without hitting bottom!
When you pause to pull back the layers—looking at original Hebrew word choices, ancient Near Eastern cultural contexts, and how the New Testament authors viewed these moments—you realize that nothing in the text is accidental. Every detail is intentionally woven into a much larger tapestry of redemption.
With every single day of digging, my passion grew. I realized this journey was too rich to keep to myself—it belonged on a blog. And maybe, if this blogging journey goes well, it will become a book someday.

While the main highway of this blog focuses on the grand patterns of Old Testament foreshadowing, God keeps showing me beautiful things along the side of the road, too.
Sometimes, I stumble across fascinating Hebrew wordplay, historical oddities, or ancient details that don’t fit strictly into a standard “typology” definition. Knowing they don’t belong front-and-center, I weave them into posts as special links and deeper studies.
I started calling these posts Buried Treasure. And honestly? Sometimes I think they are some of the most beautiful discoveries of all.
